To begin with, Softlan is normally supposed to be pictured as a fabric softener to clean your clothes and to add a sense of softness. Well duh, but from the picture that was assigned, and what it said on the advertisement. They are changing their position to more of something that calms someone down, instead of cleaning your clothes. From that scenario though, it shows someone who is completely calm, while in a wrestling match. I really don’t think you should be relaxed while someone is trying to pin you. But the goal of the original purpose is to be against other competition. They say that their product will calm wrestlers because of their very soft fabric softener, and disagree that other companies could do the same.

Tricky Stores
Normally Stores have different ways of advertising, whether they completely change their view of a product, or if they try to change the use of it. But sometimes that can confuse the minds of consumers of what the product is actually to be used for. Down below is two sources that I have explained about the actual meaning of the product, and the perceived use/meaning of the product from the image given.
Then, Pilot Pens, the water resistant ones to be exact. They are normally something you would most likely write with. But with the whole water resistant factor, they are rewarding someone by writing a note in the bottom of the bowl. They want to make sure their kid is eating all their food, so they reward them with television if they make it to the bottom of the bowl. But against other competition, this kind of pen has an unique attribute. As you know, normally not all pens are water-proof. But this pen has that attribute that makes it different from other pens.
So by positioning the actual product into a whole complete different meaning the producers can get different consumers to buy their product. So instead of people who would just use it for laundry or to write with, they can actually get that new meaning out to people and gain more consumers that way. To be fair, positioning always has had been a huge part of the marketing system. So I say we just be grateful for it, and be glad of the products we do have. Even if they don't always mean what they actually say.
